Osteopathy and Why I chose it

Updated: Apr 13, 2020

What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic form of medicine that uses manipulation and massage on bones, joints, and muscles, to help the body heal itself of disease and injury. This kind of manual medicine is drug-free and non-invasive, making it very comfortable for all individuals. Manipulating, stretching and strengthening the body is used to improve the circulatory, nervous, and lymphatic systems, allowing it to be a great option for treating all kinds of musculoskeletal disorders in any area of the body. Common disorders treated by manual osteopaths include low back pain, knee and foot pain, TMJ, gait disorders, headaches, and more!

Why did I choose Osteopathy as a profession?

I have always had a passion for the human body and how it functions, especially related to healing. The holistic theories behind osteopathy fit perfectly with how I have personally healed myself in past injuries, and how I believe the body functions. Another reason to be involved is osteopathy is the growing occurrence of injury due to aging population, unhealthy eating habits, and lack of exercise; This increase of injury correlates with the need for more treatment options. Osteopathy is growing at a rapid rate due to the want for a less invasive and drug free, more holistic approach to treating disorders and injuries.
